It takes 60 to 100+ volunteers to operate each Sunday Streets event and make sure everyone has a safe and enjoyable time. Volunteer shifts are only 2.5 hours so there’s plenty of time to explore the entire event before or after your shift. Tasks range from ensuring we have safe traffic intersections to distributing event activity guides at one of our outreach booths.
Event- Day Volunteer
Hub team volunteers help with programming and outreach at our activity hubs on our routes. They complete surveys and petitions that help Livable City achieve programmatic goals for Sunday Streets. Hub volunteers will need to be able to stand for multiple hours and be comfortable interacting with the public.
Route & Safety Team
Route and Saftey volunteers help keep our participants safe by acting as intersection monitors or helping with setup/breakdown of the Sunday Streets route. Route volunteers are expected to be able to stand for multiple hours and be able to lift 30 lbs. Access to a bicycle is sometimes required.
Groups typically adopt an intersection while promoting their organization or team up to complete Sunday Streets outreach activities like gathering surveys or collecting signatures for our petitions. It’s a great way to get the word out about your organization and give back to the Sunday Streets community!
