Sunday Streets Bayview Recap
On August 24, Sunday Streets Bayview welcomed thousands of residents and visitors to walk the streets, taste delicious local cuisine, and feel like a kid again with free popcorn, snow cones, and active games for all! Families enjoyed bracelet and jewelry making, soccer and biking in the street, and dozens of other activities.
Thank you to the SF Examiner and James Salazar for your coverage with a quote from our local vendor partner Dontaye Ball of Gumbo Social, naming the importance of giving “more people the chance to experience the richness and resilience of this great community.”
Sunday Streets Bayview is made possible by a network of incredible partner organizations, sponsors, and collaborators including:

Gumbo Social was led by Dontaye Ball: “To Chef Dontaye there’s no doubt: Gumbo is the most important food to American culture. It’s a dish that comes from the soul, and it’s social at its core. Much like the ingredients that come together to make a good pot, gumbo has the power to bring people together and establish community.” Their restaurant is located at 5176 3rd St. in San Francisco.
Gratta Wines is led by Barbara Gratta: “Gratta = From Scratch. Our wines are made with a gentle hand, encouraging the natural process to evolve. Our wines are produced using the philosophy of my grandmother: ‘What recipe? Just do like this.'” Their winery and market is located at 5299 3rd Street in San Francisco.
A special shout-out to the Bayview Hunters Point YMCA for bringing out the Kids Zone – including free food, games, inflatabloe jumpers, and more. We appreciate your partnerships and the staff support in keeping the area clean, safe, and fun for everyone.
